         进入动荡的民国岁月，中国的外忧内患日趋严重，民众处于水深火热中。在严峻形势下，北海涌现出一批红色战士，建立起了党组织，支撑起了北海人民的脊梁，为北海解放和民族振兴做出不可磨灭的贡献。本期，方志君与你讲述，北海的星星之火是如何诞生的。

In the turbulent years of the Republic of China, Chinese people were suffering increasing domestic and foreign critical difficulties and the abyss of living. In such serious situation, a batch of red army soldiers emerged and set up the Party organization in Beihai, which supported the backbone of local citizens and made an unforgettable contribution to the liberation of Beihai and national rejuvenation. Today, I, as the writer of the local gazetteers, would tell you about how the sparks of fire was lit in Beihai at that time.

支援罢工--奠定坚实的阶级基础

Support the strike:  Establishment of the solid foundation for the class

       1925年6月20日，省港大罢工，在全国掀起抗争帝国主义侵略的热潮，得到全国各地爱国组织和人士的声援和支持。10月，北海码头工人组成罢工委员会纠察队，带动全市各界人民，抵制英货和日货，以实际行动支援响应省港罢工斗争。

       On June 20, 1925, the Canton-Hong Kong strike heated up the resistance to imperialism invasion and received the support from the patriotic organaztions and people throughout the country. In October, the strike committee pickets that set up by Beihai dockers led all parts of the citizens, boycotting British and Japanese goods as practical actions to respond to the battle of Canton-Hong Kong strike.

星火初燃--中共北海支部成立

Spark the flames of revolution:  Establishment of Beihai Branch of the Communist Party of China (CPC)

       1926年初，中共广东区委南路特派员兼省农协南路办事处主任黄学增在广东廉江县等地抽调共产党员江刺横、简毅、李雄飞、冯五其、冯慕周等人到北海开展党的工作。同年6月，正式建立中共北海支部(一说中共北海市委) ，有党员8人，江刺横任书记，其公开身份是国民党北海市党部执行委员兼组织部长。

       Early in 1926, Huang Xuezeng, the south road commissioner of the Guangdong Regional Committee of the Communist Part of China and the director of the south road office of Farmers Association, carried out the work of the CPC in Beihai with Communist Party members Jiang Ciheng, Jian Yi, Li Xiongfei, Feng Wuqi, Feng Muzhou, etc. who was transferred from Lianjiang County, Guangdong and other areas. In June of the same year, Beihai Branch of the CPC was officially established (some called Beihai Municipal of the CPC), including 8 party members. Jiang Ciheng was nominated to be the secretary and his public identity was the executive member and minister of the Beihai Party of Kuomintang of China.

        与中共北海支部一同建立的还有中国共产主义青年团北海市支部，有团员12人。1926年10月，北海市总工会成立，负责人是简毅、钟辉廉。随后，学生、妇女、农民、渔民、商民组织也相继成立。党支部团结各阶层的革命力量，组成广泛的革命统一战线，开展反对贪官污吏的斗争，把滥收捐税、中饱私囊的北海市政厅筹备处专员陈椿熙赶下台。

     The Communist Youth League of China in Beihai was founded together with Beihai Branch of the CPC, including 12 league members. In October 1926, Beihai Federation of Trade Union was established while the leaders were Jian Yi and Zhong Huilian. After that, Associations of Students, Women, Farmers, Fishermen, and Merchants were set up sequentially. The party branch united the revolutionary forces from all classes to form a wide range of revolutionary united front, and struggled against corrupt officials. Chen Chunxi was ousted as the commissioner of Beihai City Hall Preparatory Office because of his behavior of overcharging taxes and pocketing the public funds.

严重受创-党组织遭反革命力量破坏

Sever damage: The party was destroyed by the counter-revolutionary forces

        1927年3月， 国民党北海市党部被改组，原市党部内的共产党员、共青团员及国民党左派人士均被解除职务。4月12日，国民党发动“四·一二”反革命政变，北海党组织各级领导、党员以及进步群众纷纷遭到国民党军队反革命势力的血腥镇压。4月24日凌晨，国民党北海驻军十一师出动军队突然包围市总工会和中共秘密联络点“肖我照相馆”等处，党支部和工会负责人江刺横、李雄飞、冯慕周、冯五其、钟辉廉、潘铁汉、潘国鼎等人不幸被捕。5月3日。江刺横、李雄飞、钟辉廉、潘铁汉、潘国鼎、冯慕周、冯五其7人，在北海东端的海滩上(今海滨公园内) 英勇就义。北海的党组织遭到破坏，幸存的共产党员转入地下斗争。

In March 1927, Beihai Party of Kuomintang of China was reorganized and the communists, league members and the Kuomintang leftists of the original city party were released from their duties. On 12th April, the Kuomintang launched the “Shanghai massacre of 1927”. The party’s leaders at all levels, communists and advanced masses were bloody suppressed by the counter-revolutionary forces from Kuomintang army. On the early morning of 24th April, the 11th division of Kuomintang station troops in Beihai besieged Beihai Federation of Trade Union and the CPC secret liaison office such as “Xiaowo Photostudio” suddenly, causing the unfortunately arrested of the leaders of the party branch and trade union such as Jiang Ciheng, Li Xiongfei, Feng Muzhou, Feng Wuqi, Zhong Huilian, Pan Tiehan, Pan Guoding, etc. On 3rd May, these seven people gave up their lives heroically on the beach in the east of Beihai (Now inside the Beihai Coastal Park). The party in Beihai was destroyed while the survivors of the CPC changed to fight underground.

       中共遂溪县委领导的一支农民自卫军，也受到1927年“四·一二”反革命政变的影响转移到斜阳岛，团结岛上群众坚持斗争。但反革命势力多次对其进行“围剿”，后因孤军无援，弹尽粮绝，44名革命战士落入反革命势力之手，于1932年12月在北海西炮台(今海角路段)英勇就义。

      One farmer self-defence corps leaded by the CPC in Suixi County was transferred to Xieyang Island under the influence of “Shanghai massacre of 1927”, where the people were united and kept on fighting. However, the counter-revolutionary forces troops implemented the plan of "encirclement and suppression" repeatedly. While the corps were running out the ammunitions and food supplies and did not received any supports, 44 revolutionary soldiers fell into the hands of counter party and gave up their lives heroically at Beihai West Fort Barbette （Now at Haijiao road） in December 1932.
